Given the ever-growing demand for Indigenous language courses and urgent need for qualified instructors province wide, the Manitoba Collaborative Indigenous Education Blueprint (MCIEB) would like to support the advancement of this important work and advocate for the prioritization of credit transfer pathways for Indigenous Language Programs while moving a broader credit transfer agreement forward.

To that end, MCIEB was pleased to host a Credit Transfer Articulation Agreement Table, Indigenous Languages Focus, on April 4, 2023. Myrna Grahn, formerly the manager of Manitoba Industry-Academia Partnerships, facilitated the table. A second meeting, facilitated by Denise Tardiff, Manager of the Blueprint, was held on May 23, 2023.

Institutions and organizations represented in these meetings include University of Manitoba, University of Winnipeg, Red River College Polytechnic, Canadian Mennonite University, Université de Saint-Boniface, Assiniboine Community College, Brandon University, University College of the North, Manitoba Institute of Trades and Technology, Indigenous Inclusion Directorate (Education and Early Childhood Learning, Government of Manitoba), Advanced Education and Training (Government of Manitoba), Manitoba Industry-Academia Partnership, Campus Manitoba, Teach for Canada, and the British Columbia Council on Admissions and Transfer.

Representatives will continue to meet after consulting with their organizations and will invite other necessary voices into the conversation. Furthermore, ongoing strategic stakeholder meetings have resulted from this table.
